Footprint

We acquired over 13’000 hectares of landholdings for development and conservation in Sofala Province. 6'000 hectares of commercial forests are being established, with the remaining estates managed for conservation and restoration. We also hold rights to an additional 3’000 hectares, including 2’000 hectares of existing eucalyptus plantations. We are evaluating the potential to afforest and reforest an additional 9’000 hectares, bringing the total to 25’000 hectares in Sofala Province.

Stewardship

Responsible investing helps us manage risks, identify new commercial opportunities, and diversify exposure to commodity markets.

Accountable stewardship of our assets is at the heart of our investment strategy and business model. This means not only incorporating robust third-party certification standards into forestry and conservation practices but also integrating this perspective into business strategies, monitoring and reporting to third parties, and institutional governance.

Management & Forestry

We manage and operate a growing footprint of plantation forests and, importantly, a large conservation estate within our integrated landscape initiative, which incorporates neighboring communities. We use a combination of employees, contractors, and third-party foresters to establish our plantation forests and manage our conservation estate.

We develop forest management plans and operating budgets with our partner in Mozambique, Investimento Florestal de Moçambique Lda, and supervise contractors and consultants who provide on-the-ground services. With carbon and conservation experts, we design, develop, and manage conservation and carbon assets, relying on technical and local consultants for region-specific expertise.

Certification & Compliance

Our forestry approach is guided by the principles of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and adheres to the Performance Standards of the International Finance Corporation (IFC®).

Together with Investimento Florestal de Moçambique Lda, we are aiming for FSC® Forest Management certification in 2026. Meeting both FSC® and IFC® standards is crucial to ensure best practices. We also plan to align our practices with the requirements for carbon certification under the Verra Carbon Standard (VCS®) for Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) activities, as well as the Verra Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Standards®.

Framework

Our investment strategy emphasizes long-term social and ecological value alongside financial returns. This approach recognizes the importance of commercial timber, conservation, carbon sequestration, biodiversity, clean water, and rural livelihoods.

Our land management practices deliver measurable results across our plantation forests, conservation assets, surrounding ecosystems, and local communities. We will track and report these results using recognized qualitative and quantitative performance metrics and indicators aligned with the frameworks and standards we adhere to.
