Why Invest?

Plantation forests and associated natural habitats are biological real assets, with steady growth rates driven by nature’s free inputs. Trees grow regardless of market cycles and political swings, making forestry a portfolio diversifier. Timber harvests can also be timed to strong markets or stored on the stump to preserve value in weaker markets.

Plantation forests combined with natural habitats hold social, environmental, and cultural values that are often overlooked by traditional investment strategies. These values can be unlocked through tools such as carbon projects or biodiversity credits, while also enhancing the value of plantation forestry. Cash flows from these sources enable us to implement improvements in ecosystem characteristics alongside commercial timber volumes.

Investment Approach

We invest in regions of Mozambique with agroecosystems well suited to commercial afforestation and within economic reach of markets. We target landholdings where financial value can be unlocked by monetizing social and ecological attributes within our overarching landscape strategy. Plantation forests are established on land with demonstrated degradation and little to no possibility of returning to its original state.

We seek to diversify our revenue streams to include carbon credits alongside revenue from traditional sustainable forest plantation products. Carbon revenues are pivotal to developing plantation forests and supporting natural habitat stewardship. They help de-risk investments in plantation forests, provide price and volume certainty for investors, and support outcomes such as biodiversity restoration and community partnerships.

We strive to diversify revenue to reduce reliance on commodity markets. When developing carbon projects, we partner with Investimento Florestal de Moçambique Lda to achieve meaningful scale and seek carbon offset buyers who offer price and volume certainty in exchange for a steady stream of the highest-quality, nature-based credits. The value and probability of carbon and conservation project revenues are weighed against other estate attributes, including timber productivity, access to infrastructure and processing, fire risk, and disposal opportunities.

Investment Opportunities

We continually raise capital from accredited, qualified, and institutional investors. This allows us to scale up our investments in the forestry sector as society recognizes the role of commercial forests in protecting water, supporting biodiversity, and tackling climate change.
